Booking policy during Covid-19:

As a small boutique hotel, last minute cancellations can have a devastating impact. Please see our “Policies” page for full details. Short notice cancellations due to positive COVID-19 test results will be addressed on a case by case basis. Proof of positive test results will be required. If you are choosing to travel abroad to Panama, we do recommend being responsible ahead of your travel dates and quarantining ahead of your departure dates.

+ Booking Questions

Individual bookings are three months out during the high season (November – May) and five months prior to the reservation date during low season (June – October). Please note that certain weeks may be blocked off due to tentative group retreats or private events.

Our policy requests a two-night minimum stay with no maximum stay for individual bookings.

We are family friendly hideaway with several units offering loft sleeping areas for kids.

+ Shuttle to town

The Hideaway does offer a shuttle to and from the Santa Catalina town for a small fee. This will run in accordance with dive trips, surf swell, and on advanced guest request.

+ How rustic is our town, really? GET GAS & CASH

In Santa Catalina you won’t find any ATM or gas station. The closest gas station and ATM is in the town of Sona, as 45min drive from here. If you are driving in, please remember to stop and fill up.

+ Where to Eat

The Hideaway has a beachfront restaurant onsite, facing the ocean, serving up a variety of tasty sensations for breakfast, lunch and dinner - complete with vegetarian and vegan options. The town of Santa Catalina is a short 15 minute drive from us with an assortment of delicious restaurants we can recommend and shuttle you to and from.

+ Water

The water from the taps at The Hideaway is safe to drink. Please bring a reusable water bottle for your travels and adventures around the area. Bottled water is NOT sold onsite in accordance with our commitment to the environment.

+ Activites

We have a variety of activities at The Hideaway to keep you busy and Santa Catalina is famous for its world class surfing, diving, and surrounding secluded islands. Check out our Play Easy page for more details.

+ Currency

Panama’s local currency is the Balboa, which is pinned to the USD. Long story short, bring USD and a credit card.

+ Payment

Your tab will be settled at checkout with your deposit subtracted from your total bill. We accept cash and credit cards (no Amex). 7% local tax will be charged to your restaurant bill, and 10% local tax to your hotel bill.

We also accept all tips for our staff at checkout.

+ Immunizations

Please note if you are flying in to Panama from the following countries, you will require a yellow fever shot for entry.

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guyana, Guyana, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, and nearly 30 countries located on the African continent.

+ Wifi

We offer free, unlimited fiber optic Wi-Fi across our whole property. This is a blessing and a curse.

+ Jungle Life

We are in the jungle. We have bugs of all shapes and sizes. Bug spray recommended.

+ Panamanian Holidays

As a Latin country, Panamanians love a good fiesta. Please note the following holidays often mean a lively town and lots of reggaeton:

+ Volunteers

We do have staff housing available and are always looking for enthusiastic and creative team members, so shoot us a message if you think you’ve got the stuff ;)

+ Medical

We have a medical facility in Tigre de los Amarillos, 10 minutes away. It is open 8am - 3pm Monday to Saturday. There is also an ambulance service on call during these hours. One hour away from Santa Catalina we have a hospital in Sona for 24-hour emergencies. We also have a pharmacy in Santa Catalina.
